OLUBADAN PROHIBITS OPEN GRAZING IN IBADAN, WARNS OF PROSECUTION FOR VIOLATORS
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rasidi Ladoja (Aruse I), has banned the practice of open cattle grazing across Ibadanland, describing it as illegal and unacceptable under existing laws of Oyo State.
The monarch made his position known in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Ayoade, following a meeting with members of the Olubadan-in-Council and executive members of the Ijaye Farm Settlers Association at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, on Monday.
According to the statement, Oba Ladoja expressed strong displeasure over the continued disregard for the state’s anti-open grazing law, stressing that the practice poses threats to public safety, peaceful coexistence, and agricultural activities within the state.
Speaking during the meeting, the Olubadan stated that open cattle grazing is prohibited not only in Ibadanland but across Oyo State, adding that anyone found violating the law would face prosecution in accordance with relevant legal provisions.
The traditional ruler urged all stakeholders, including herders, farmers, and community leaders, to comply with the law and embrace lawful livestock management practices, noting that adherence to the rule of law remains essential for maintaining peace and order in the state.
