NOA, BENUE MINISTRY PARTNER TO PROMOTE NATIONAL VALUES AND PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Benue State Ministry of Information and Orientation to advance national values re-orientation, strengthen public enlightenment, and deepen citizens’ participation in governance.

Receiving a delegation from the Benue State Ministry led by the Honourable Commissioner, the Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, highlighted the critical role of communication in nation-building. He emphasized that timely and accurate information dissemination remains vital for driving value re-orientation, social cohesion, and sustainable national development.

Issa-Onilu disclosed that the Agency’s Department of Planning, Research and Strategy will be revitalized to improve efficiency and ensure that citizens’ feedback from across the states is systematically compiled and shared with state governments, local councils, and speakers of state assemblies. This, he said, would make governance more inclusive and responsive to the needs of the people.
Explaining the foundation of the Nigerian Identity Project, the NOA boss noted that it was designed to define the responsibilities of both leaders and citizens. He added that the initiative formed the basis for the National Values Charter, which incorporates the Nigerian Promise, Citizen Codes, and Institutionalization Policies.

In his remarks, the Benue State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, commended NOA for its unwavering commitment to national unity, patriotism, and responsible citizenship. He said Benue State shares similar goals through its ongoing campaigns on moral revival, civic awareness, and public engagement in governance.
Dr. Egbodo further revealed plans to organize a series of town hall meetings across Benue’s local government areas, bringing together traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth representatives, and community influencers. He noted that the support of NOA would be crucial to achieving the objectives of the initiative.
The meeting was also attended by top NOA management officials, including the Director of Special Duties and State Operations, Mr. David Akoji; Director of Communication and Media, Mallam Bala Musa; and Director of Planning, Research and Strategy, Mallam Nura Kobi.
