WORLD STATISTICS DAY 2025: ONDO ACTING STATISTICIAN GENERAL LEADS CAMPAIGN TO EMPHASIZE QUALITY STATISTICS AND DATA FOR EVERYONE
Ondo State today, Monday, October 20, 2025, joins the global community to celebrate World Statistics Day with the theme “Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone”.
The international event which holds once every five years underscores the crucial role of reliable data and sound statistical systems in driving evidence-based decision-making and sustainable development.
In recognition of this important day, the Ondo State Bureau of Statistics, under the leadership of the Acting Statistician-General, Mr. Olusola Sunday Ajayi, also used the opportunity to promote awareness on the importance of quality data in governance, planning, and development.
Mr. Ajayi emphasized that accurate and timely statistical information remains the backbone of effective policy formulation and implementation.
He noted that “when data is accessible, reliable, and inclusive, it empowers every sector of society from government and private organizations to individuals to make informed choices that foster progress.”
As part of activities marking the celebration, the Bureau is engaging in public sensitization and awareness campaigns across Ondo State to highlight the value of statistics in everyday life.
The initiative aims to encourage greater data literacy among citizens and to strengthen public trust in official statistics.
World Statistics Day serves as a reminder that quality statistics are not just for experts, but for everyone to understand trends, evaluate progress, and make decisions that shape a better future.
