“First and foremost, thanks for this award. I really want to thank the organisers; I wasn’t expecting this but at the same time, thanks so much, I so much appreciate it. It is all for the culture; we need to represent the culture. We need to give back, we need to support. The reason why this award is very important to me is, it is about positivity; it is about positive change. I’m for anything that is positive. Whatever goes for the culture, if we don’t do it, nobody will do it for us,” Dr Uyi said at the event after receiving his award.
The marketing and advertising expert born in the UK, has been involved in events and forums that aim to bridge gaps between African football talents and international exposure, one of which is the talentscouting partnership in Kenya via the UKKenya Trade Mission 2024. The imprint of his influence in shaping branding and marketing was visible as a brand ambassador/ board marketing committee member for the Unity Cup 2025 in London.
Drew Uyi is a thriving symbol of excellence in his career and holds a huge effect in the global football community. He is a known voice in managing brand strategy, and connecting players, particularly of African descent. with global markets. The FA-licensed agent since 2018, helps players get noticed beyond their local leagues, translating into better contracts, opportunities, and sponsorships.
By participating in grassroots tournaments and talent scouting, Dr Uyi has helped to build pipelines and bridges, instead of leaving young players to struggle without access or visibility, in their journey to realising their dreams.
Across many fronts, Dr Uyi’s work is part of a larger shift: treating African players as brands, not just athletically talented individuals but marketable figures with potential returns in endorsements, media presence, etc.
To many, he is more than a role model. Dr Uyi is working globally while staying engaged locally, is an example of what is possible. He inspires more people to pursue management, marketing, sports administration, etc., not just playing. His work continues to earn his recognition on the international stage across the spectrum as a sports business educator, mentor, and community advocate.
