YORUBA NOLLYWOOD ICON, CHIEF KANRAN, PASSES ON AT 72

Veteran Nigerian actor, Segun Remi, popularly known by his stage name Chief Kanran, has died at the age of 72.
The news of his passing was made public on Friday by popular entertainment journalist, Seun Oloketuyi, via an Instagram post. Oloketuyi wrote, “Popular actor, Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, died Friday morning.”
As at the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding his death had not been made public.
Chief Kanran was a highly respected figure in the Yoruba film industry and one of its most recognizable faces on stage and screen. He was admired for his comedic roles and commanding presence, earning him widespread acclaim over several decades.
Until his demise, he remained a household name among lovers of Yoruba theatre and Nollywood classics.
