AIYEDATIWA SHOWERS ₦30MILLION, HOUSE GIFT ON SUPER FALCON

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has honoured Super Falcons defender, Tosin Demehin, with a cash reward of ₦30 million and a house at Sunshine Estate, Oba-Ile, Akure, for her stellar performance at the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where Nigeria clinched the title.
At a colourful civic reception in Akure on Monday, August 4, 2025, the Governor also announced ₦15 million cash rewards each for Mary Akinsola, the team’s media officer, and Mary Oduboku, the secretary, both indigenes of Ondo State who were part of the triumphant squad in Morocco.
Governor Aiyedatiwa described Demehin, who hails from Ilaje Local Government Area, as a beacon of excellence, resilience, and pride for the Sunshine State. “This is a proud moment for us. You have not only brought glory to the nation but great honour to Ondo State,” he declared, as he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports and youth development.
The Governor further pledged renewed support for the Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure, promising to provide all necessary resources to ensure the team’s swift return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
In her response, a visibly moved Demehin thanked the Governor and people of Ondo State for the warm reception, stating, “This support gives hope to many young girls with dreams like mine.” She also urged more investment in women’s football to sustain its growth.
The event was graced by top government officials, sports stakeholders, and dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, SSG Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, and Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Henry Segun, who praised the Governor’s gesture as a powerful boost for sports development in the state.
