Super Falcons star forward, Asisat Oshoala, has dismissed circulating rumours suggesting her retirement from international football after Nigeria’s historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title win. In a firm rebuttal, Oshoala declared, “I’m still here,” adding that she remains fully committed to representing the country whenever called upon.

The multiple-time African Footballer of the Year described the retirement speculation as fake news and accused some individuals of pushing a false narrative to set an unnecessary agenda. “I don’t know where that came from,” she said. “Some people just want to trend with false stories. I’m always ready for Nigeria.”

Oshoala, who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s WAFCON campaign, reaffirmed her passion for the national team and her dedication to continue contributing to its success. She stated that her focus remains on helping the team grow stronger and mentoring younger players coming into the fold.

“I’ve always answered the national call with pride and will keep doing so as long as I’m fit and needed. No agenda can stop that,” she emphasized. Her words put to rest speculations that she may be stepping away after her stellar performance in the just-concluded tournament.

Her assurance comes as a relief to fans and stakeholders alike, as the Super Falcons look ahead to future competitions with hopes of building on their continental dominance.
