I HOLD NO GRUDGE AGAINST OLAMIDE — YEMI MY LOVER BREAKS SILENCE ON SOCIAL MEDIA TROLLS

Veteran Nollywood actor and producer, Yẹmi Ayebo, popularly known as Yẹmi My Lover, has finally broken his silence amid swirling rumors and online backlash suggesting he was upset with Nigerian rapper Olamide for using his brand name in a hit track without offering credit or royalty.

Yemi, while featuring via phone as a guest on a live radio programme BO ṢE N LỌ on Orange 94.5FM in Akure as monitored by www.thedailystings.com , anchored by renowned broadcaster Mr. Tomogun Olubunmi, used the opportunity to debunk the claims and clarify his stance. Tomogun expressed concern about the growing trend of fake news and online character assassination, urging the government to enact laws to regulate social media usage and penalize misinformation.

Tomogun asked the movie star to set the record straight on the widely circulated narrative. In his response, Yemi said although he is not new to cyber bullying, he found this particular episode quite surprising. “I’m not angry with Olamide at all. In fact, I was happy he used my name in his song. It brought me back to the spotlight,” he said.

He further revealed that the song titled ‘Yemi My Lover’ is now commonly used by DJs to usher him into events, describing it as a positive reinforcement of his brand. Recalling a previous interaction, he mentioned speaking to Olamide via Fuji star Pasuma’s phone during preparations for his movie premiere, where Pasuma was billed to perform.

“Pasuma joked with me and asked, ‘Sir Yemo, shey Olamide ti tẹ ọwọ si yin?’ meaning ‘Has Olamide appreciated you?’ That’s when Olamide asked Pasuma to give me his number. I tried reaching him during the movie premiere planning, but I understand how busy his schedule can be,” Yemi explained.

He emphasized that he holds no grudges against anyone, adding that the entertainment industry is one big family and should not be divided by hearsay or social media drama.

His clarification has since calmed some of the tension online, with fans now praising him for his maturity and positivity in handling the situation.
