BAO’S FESTIVE MODEL KEEPS RAM PRICES STABLE IN EKITI AMID NATIONWIDE SURGE

As many states grapple with rising prices and ram scarcity ahead of Eid-el-Kabir, Ekiti State is charting a different course, one defined by proactive governance and local economic empowerment.
In a strategic move reflective of the state’s commitment to grassroots engagement, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, alongside the Director General of Community Communications, Mrs. Mary Oso-Omotosho, held a meeting with the leadership of the Sheep, Goat, and Ram Sellers Association in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.
The visit is part of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s now-customary practice of direct engagement with local livestock sellers during festive seasons. As seen during last year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations, the administration directly patronizes local traders to supply rams to residents, ensuring affordability and supporting the local economy.
This initiative, which has become a hallmark of the Oyebanji administration, goes beyond seasonal benevolence. It is a deliberate economic strategy that empowers local sellers, curbs artificial inflation caused by middlemen, and ensures that money spent by the government stays within Ekiti State.
“The BAO model is not just about celebration it’s about building a resilient local economy,” said a government official at the event. “We are putting Ekiti money back into Ekiti hands.”
As Eid approaches, the government’s move is expected to maintain price stability and ease the financial burden on residents, reinforcing Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to shared prosperity through practical, people-centered policies.
