GOVERNOR AYEDATIWA APPOINTS OLOWO OF OWO AS CHAIRMAN OF ONDO STATE COUNCIL OF OBAS

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has appointed the Olowo of Owo, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye II, as the new Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers. The announcement was made during a special meeting at the Obas’ Secretariat in Akure as the leadership of the 11th Council, headed by the Deji of Akure, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun II, came to an end.
Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the outgoing Chairman, Oba Aladetoyinbo, for his dedication and leadership over the past two years, particularly in addressing chieftaincy matters and upgrading traditional stools. He highlighted the abolition of the Grade ‘D’ Obas category and the completion of the Ondo State Council of Obas’ Secretariat as major achievements during the outgoing council’s tenure.
While inaugurating the new 12th Council, the Governor reassured traditional rulers of continued support and affirmed his commitment to enhancing their status. In his acceptance speech, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye II expressed gratitude for the appointment and vowed to strengthen the relationship between the Council and the government.
The Deji of Akure also expressed appreciation to the governor for his unwavering support of the traditional institution, emphasizing the governor’s consistent response to the Obas’ requests. Other monarchs at the event lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for his developmental initiatives and urged him to continue fostering collaboration with the new Council leadership.
The event was attended by top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa.
